Neil Young, Cabrillo College, (US) - 7 août 1977

Kent. Thank you for posting this because sometimes I think this was a dream. Hearing Neil sing Helpless with the sun setting was something I will never forget. I i was very young, 16but will never forget this. I remember being glad Dave didn't show up even though I love Dave Mason.

This was supposed to be Dave Mason as the headliner, but he never showed up, so Neil Young, who was in the audience, came up and jammed with Elvin and the crew for a little under 2 hours. Gorgeous summer day, lots of women not wearing any tops.

I remember going to this concert with my oldest brother Mike. I had just turned 17, he was 26. He lived in New York and we didn’t see each other often. He was so much older he felt like a second dad. I bought the tickets I believe so I was starting to feel bad when it took so long for Dave Mason to come out. The way I remember it Elvin came back out and said something about Dave’s flight being delayed, and then said that he’d like to come out and play some more with a special guest. Then Neil came out and played helpless and Dave was immediately forgotten.
