Asya Satti, Royal Festival Hall, London (GB) - 3 mars 2017

Asya Satti is a singer with a good range and tone, a very attractive voice. Her band consisted of oud/guitar, double bass, drums, percussion. The music was rhythmically varied and powerful but the voice needed bringing out from the instruments some of the time. The songs were sung mostly in English though I think a fair proportion were influenced by Sudanese music. The oud playing was terrific. I think the band would benefit from some soul-type horns.
