As Wembley Stadium was already booked (Metallica were playing there), Genesis were forced to go to the less-accessible Twickenham Stadium, with a capacity of only 75,000. Still, the gig was sold out and was essentially the band's farewell to their fans.

I had seen Genesis the day before at Live Earth, and was looking forward to this gig. I had also seen them twice before: on The Way We Walk tour of 1992, and the Calling All Stations tour of 1998, when Ray Wilson was on vocals. That one felt like a tribute band, rather like the Straits gig - Dire Straits without Mark Knopfler.

At Twickenham, our seat was right at the side of the stadium, so that we were facing the opposite side of the crowd and looking across the stage. We saw NONE of the stage lighting, set or effects, and only saw the band when they deigned to step forward for any reason.

Musically, the set was fabulous; there was some great stuff in there, but it was spoiled by not being able to see them. x
