The 2nd time I’ve seen this, but the first time with Liam Neeson as the Journalist/ Narrator. There were new additions and a few changes too. Prior to the concert starting with The Eve of The War, there was a video introduction by an actor playing HG Wells. There were a couple more HG Wells segments during the show. There were a few other changes with some new arrangements on some of the songs. The guitar intro for example on Forever Autumn, was very different. It was good don’t get me wrong, because you knew it was live and obviously it’s nice to hear the variation, but there’s certain songs that just shouldn’t be touched. There was also a few extra ‘songs’ or musical passages at the end, which I thought ok as part of the show, but I could take or leave. The cast members were all very good. But Jeff Wayne’s daughter who played the journalists wife Carrie was a tad out of tune. The visual effects were stunning. Amazing videos and of course, the 20ft high Martian Fighting Machine! Wow! If you’ve never seen WOTW live. Do it!
