ABBA: The Tour : ABBA, Wembley Arena, Brent (GB) - Nov 7, 1979

My tickets were for my 15th birthday. (Block E, Row 4, seats 18 and 19.) I took the same friend to the first Saturday of the ABBA Voyage show and again for the 1st Anniversary show at the ABBA Voyage Arena London. Both shows were / are fabulous.

My mates dad actually was a coach driver for Abba's backing singers and i was luckily enough to get a back stage pass for this Fantastic last show. I was sat in the red velvet seated VIP section to the right of the stage along side many other celebrities inc: Abba's family - Rod stewart and some blonde bird - 1st million pound footballer Trevor francis and his 8 month pregnant wife (i actually gave her my seat) amongst many others. After the show we went backstage and actually met Agnetha, benny, bjorn and anna and manager Stig anderson and got autograhs...One of the best nights ever as i had a major crush on Agnetha. So wished i still had the autographs, VIP pass and other goodies as they would be worth a few quid to collectors.

I'm really surprised at just how small the stage set is. It looks a little lost in Wembley Arena! Perhaps it was designed for concert halls rather than arenas?

It looks bigger on the ABBA in Concert DVD, so this is interesting to see the reality. I have fond memories of the original Wembley Arena so I get get some perspective on it. Fascinating photos!

I was lucky enough to see them on the night they filmed for the DVD (you can see the camera in some photos). I thought the photos might bring back some fond memories for everyone. Sorry about the poor quality of the photos, I couldn't afford an expensive camera at the time. I have more photos of the concert, but these are the best ones. Happy times.
