The large orchestra and chorus (which included my brother Andrew) performed Carmina Burana (Orff), Sea Pictures (Elgar), Au fond du temple saint (from The Pearl Fishers) (Bizet), Casta Diva (from Norma) (Bellini) and the Toreador Song (from Carmen) (Bizet). Soloists were Laure Meloy soprano, Tabitha Reynolds mezzo-soprano, John Pierce tenor, Simon Thorpe bass. Director of Music was Douglas McIlwraith. This kind of thing is not my cup of tea but I did like the Orff which I found modernist and exciting. And I've known Casta Diva from a recording by Maria Callas since childhood, so it was good to hear a live performance.
