Melissa James is a gospelly soul singer, jazzy too. She was accompanied by piano and acoustic guitar (percussion - tambourine, maracas - by all three musicians on one number). A really expressive singer and she writes most of her songs. What was striking was the actual tunefulness of many of the numbers, reminding me of southern soul from the 60s, sometimes hymnal in quality.
