Out to Lunch Jazz Series 2017 : Paul Higgs, Cadogan Hall, Sloane Square, London (GB) - Jul 21, 2017

Paul Higgs trumpet was backed by Chris Ingham piano, Jerome Davies double bass and George Double drums. The programme was called Shades of Miles and all the numbers were from recordings by the great jazz musician Miles Davis: Milestones, Four, Bye Bye Blackbird, My Funny Valentine, Summertime, All Blues, So What, Flamenco Sketches, Concierto de Aranjuez, Seven Steps to Heaven, Human Nature, If I Were a Bell. A programme like this is intrinsically conservative but the trumpet playing was delightful (terrific tone), the piano was pretty good and the short spoken bits about Miles between each number were fine for those with little background in his music. A pleasurable gig.
