Halle Orchestra with Victoria de los Angeles, Royal Festival Hall, London (GB) - Oct 2, 1974

The well-known orchestra from Manchester (this their 117th season) with the famous singer. The programme consisted of the National Anthem (!), Wolf-Ferrari’s Overture, Susanna’s Secret, Montsalvatge’s Five Negro Songs (sic), Enesco’s Rumanian Rhapsody No 1, Falla’s Seven Popular Spanish Songs and Rachmaninov’s Symphony No 2 in E Minor. Conductor James Loughran. My first experience of Victoria – terrific voice; the Falla songs were great. Could have done without the Rachmaninov.
