Billed as ‘vintage swing’, this close-harmony vocal group of three female singers (which included Victoria), in the tradition of the Andrews Sisters, sang songs from the wartime era of the 1940s. As such they are a completely retro enterprise. Some songs were done solo and there was an additional female singer (Liz) and one male. Songs included Chattanooga Choo Choo, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, several by Vera Lynn (including, of course, We’ll Meet Again), That Man by Caro Emerald and Louis Prima’s Sing Sing Sing (recorded by the Andrews Sisters) this last also having a tenor saxophonist. Otherwise the instrumentation was pre-recorded. Rather weighted in favour of the slower songs of the period as against uptempo numbers. Attractive first gig.
