Also billed as Jazz Africa Quintet ft Tony Kofi and Basil Hodge. Kofi soprano/tenor saxes/ percussion, Hodge keyboards/percussion, Maurice Brown guitar, Mikele Mantolli bs guitar, Matt Holmes drums. A really good gig. Fine playing from everyone. I was surprised since a lot of it seemed to be based on afrobeat rhythm, which I’ve always disliked, but it was not at all tedious. Kofi I knew of and he played with great facility and intensity. But the others were just as impressive, especially Brown and Holmes. Numbers included stuff by Abdullah Ibrahim, Manu Dibango and Randy Weston.
